Artist Statement

Themes of faith, family, and colorism are prominent in my work. I want to confront colorism and featurism in the black community.

I want children to enjoy the way God made them—from their hair, size, features, and skin tone—and to proudly identify with and appreciate who they are.

Due to the power of images, I hope that when people see my work, which also depicts joyful, healthy family connections, they will start to clearly perceive themselves in this same light and pursue and develop strong, loving relationships via marriage, parenthood, and friendship.
